We respect your privacy. This policy explains how Onside101 (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you visit our site, join the waitlist, or opt in to email/SMS updates.

Data we collect
- Contact data: email address and, if you choose, your phone number for SMS.
- Preference data (collected later via forms/journeys): recipient names, key dates (e.g., birthdays), budgets, interests, and gifting preferences you provide.
- Technical data: IP address, device/browser info, and cookie identifiers for essential operation and (with consent) analytics.
How we collect your data
- Directly from you via our website forms (powered by Klaviyo).
- Automatically via cookies and similar technologies (see Cookies & Analytics).
How we use your data
- Waitlist & updates: to send launch news, early-access information, and product updates (email and/or SMS if opted in).
- Reminders & suggestions (when live): to deliver timely reminders and curated gift ideas based on your preferences.
- Support & service messages: to respond to enquiries and operate the service.
- Security & performance: to protect our service, prevent abuse, and improve reliability.
Lawful bases (UK GDPR)
- Consent: for marketing emails, SMS, and non-essential cookies/analytics. You can withdraw consent anytime.
- Contract / Legitimate interests: to provide features you request (e.g., reminders you enable) and to keep the service secure and functional.
- Legal obligation: to comply with applicable laws.
SMS terms (if you opt in)
By providing your number and opting in, you agree to receive SMS from Onside101 about launch updates, reminders, and early-access perks. Message frequency is a few per month. Standard messaging and data rates may apply. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP. For help, reply HELP. SMS consent is not required to use the service or purchase any goods.
Cookies & Analytics
We use essential cookies for core site functions. With your consent, we also use analytics to understand performance and improve the experience:
- Google Analytics (GA) — audience measurement and site performance.
- Hotjar — experience analytics (e.g., heatmaps, session insights).
We ask for consent before setting non-essential cookies. You can change your cookie choices at any time via the cookie banner link or your browser settings.
Sharing your data
We share personal data with trusted providers solely to run our service:
- Klaviyo (email/SMS forms, messaging, list management).
- Cloud hosting & security (to deliver the website).
- Analytics providers (Google Analytics, Hotjar) — only if you consent.
- Payment provider (when checkout launches); card data processed by the provider, not by us.
We do not sell your personal data.
International transfers
Some providers may process data outside the UK/EEA (for example, in the US). Where this occurs, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses with the UK Addendum, and/or equivalent mechanisms. Details are available on request.
Data retention
- Marketing/waitlist data: retained until you unsubscribe or for up to 24 months of inactivity, after which we routinely delete or anonymise it.
- Account/app data (when live): retained while your account is active and for up to 12 months after closure for backup, compliance, and dispute handling.
Security
Pre-launch, your data is collected via secure Klaviyo forms and stored within Klaviyo, which uses encryption in transit and at rest. We restrict access to authorised personnel and vendors. We’ll publish additional technical details as the Onside101 app launches and our infrastructure expands.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can request to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and you may object to or restrict certain processing. You can withdraw marketing consent at any time (unsubscribe links in emails; reply STOP for SMS). To exercise your rights, email hello@onside101.com.
Complaints
Please contact us first so we can help. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
Children
Onside101 is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
